Maple Bourbon Old Fashioned

I am part-time back to work and it feels so good.

My business partner and amazing friend is giving birth in December.

My brother got engaged and turned 30.

We finished the renovation on our social hall that has been out of commision since my brother was born.

One of my BFFS from childhood is looking to buy a house 15 minutes away from where I live.

My mom got a bad haircut, but then it got fixed and it looks really good now…

2020 has been rough, but there has also been so much to celebrate.

I will also make any excuse to celebrate anything. I will say “yay! It’s a Tuesday! LET’S CELEBRATE.”

Any excuse.

Life is short and momma likey the drinky poos. But all of the things above call for a celebration. A big one.

And I have just the thing to cheers with.

Did you guys know that I used to be a bartender? It was one of my favorite gigs. I know that you must already know that I am into good quality stuff so you don’t get those pesky “after” effects that no one wants. This delicious beverage packs a little punch, requires just a few simple ingredients, and is balanced with the right amount of smokiness, subtle sweetness thanks to the pure maple syrup, and a hint of citrus.

It’s the perfect little something to let you to slow down, embrace the fall season, and just take it all in for a  minute. I love summer the most, so this cocktail helps ease the blow.

Truly, that’s what I am taking the time to do in this season of life. I am hitting the pause button and just stepping back to celebrate the big stuff (my brother marrying the best gal ever), and the little stuff too (Donna’s hair going from a total disaster to super cute). Cheers to that, right?

Rosh Hashanah just came and went, (the Jewish new year) so I am making this the perfect time to look ahead at what’s to come– the potential for big growth,  the fears that I want to overcome, the goals I have for the new year. And you should too. Even if you’re not a half Jew like me.

Either way, I hope you find the time this month to celebrate something– if it’s an accomplishment or just making it through a long day that you found some small delights in and stay intentional,  no matter what was going on around you. Do not forget that the smallest of things do add up. We need to remember that in 2020.

I am thinking of doing a roundup of healthier cocktails. What do you think? I had this idea when I was preggers, but it was too depressing to write it when I was off the sauce. Leave in the comments what cocktail you want to have a healthier recipe of for your next occasion or Tuesday night.
